Caorle beyond the beach: 3 secret ‘Passi Barca’ routes for exploring the lagoon by bike

You know us: at the Hotel All’Orologio, we’re not really fans of ‘mass-produced’ holidays – those standardised ones where you just go round in a loop between your room, your beach umbrella and the tourist restaurant. We like to see you exploring, coming back in the evening with eyes full of wonder and stories to tell, just as a friend visiting us for the first time would.

Today we’d like to let you in on a secret that will allow you to experience the area through the eyes of those who love it: the Passi Barca in our lagoon. Picture the scene: leave your car behind in our private car park, hop on one of our bikes and let yourself be ferried from one bank to the other, where nature runs wild and time seems to stand still.

Here are the three boat trips we recommend you try for an unforgettable day out.

1. The Barca di Falconera Pass: the gateway to Vallevecchia

This is the perfect route for our ‘Weekend Explorers’ or for families looking for a touch of adventure in unspoilt nature. It takes just a few minutes’ cycle from the hotel to reach the end of Levante, in the village of Falconera. There, you’ll find the lagoon ferry waiting to take you directly to Vallevecchia and the stunning Brussa beach.

• Timetable: Departures from Falconera: 9.00–12.00 and 15.00–18.00. Return journeys from Vallevecchia: 9.30–12.15 and 15.30–18.15.
• Days: Every day from 23 May to 20 September. If you’re visiting us in autumn (perhaps for the Half Marathon in October), the service is available at weekends and on public holidays until 20 October.
• Price: Just €3 for a single journey, €5 for a return. Bike transport is already included. Booking? Not needed – adventures are best when they’re spontaneous!

2. The Barca di San Gaetano Pass: a journey through history (and eco-sustainability)

If you’re looking for a more intimate experience, this route will have you falling in love with it. You’ll board a fully electric boat that connects the wonderful Isola dei Pescatori in Caorle (with its historic huts made of marsh reeds) to the small village of San Gaetano, gliding gently along the River Lemene. A real journey back in time.

• Timetable & Frequency: Departures are frequent, approximately every 30 minutes, between 9.00 and 12.00 and 15.00 and 18.00.
• Days: Open from Friday to Sunday (and on public holidays) from 22 May to 17 September, and then at weekends until the end of the month.
• Price: Just €2 one way, €3 return (bike included, no booking required).

3. The Long Route: from Caorle to Bibione Pineda

This route is a favourite with our “Explorer Cyclists” and with anyone who wants to spend a whole day actively exploring. It’s a proper scheduled service across the lagoon, linking Caorle to Bibione Pineda. The real insider’s tip? You can ask for a stop on request right at the Vallevecchia Museum, so you can visit the environmental centre before continuing on your way.

• Fixed timetable: Departures from Caorle are at 08:15 or 15:15. Return journeys from Bibione are at 09:40, 10:50, 16:40 or 17:50.
• Cost & Booking: This route is more exclusive: the cost is €12 (€18 return), whilst for Vallevecchia it is €8 (children under 6 travel free). Please note: bookings are compulsory for this route (you can book at book.bluest.eu or by contacting us).
• Days: Every day from 9 July to 20 September, then at weekends only until 25 October.

Services in the lagoon strictly follow the rhythms and whims of nature. In the event of bad weather or unusual tides, routes may be subject to change.
